The Mountain

I am in a valley at the foot of a collossal mountain casting a great shadow. My surroundings are shrouded in the shadow. My goal here is to find a jewel of unparalleled value, but after feeling under every stone and boulder in the darkened valley I become discouraged. Suddenly I look up at the monolithic beast that is the mountain and decide if the jewel resides here then it must be at the top. I start climbing the mountain and realize how much bigger it is then I thought it would be. I push on and on, always with the jewel in the back of my mind, and after long years of single minded determination, reach the top. I am for once bathed in light and can see everything. I look up and see that the sun has moved on its path in the sky. I look down onto the mountain and see how radiant and beautiful what I just climbed was. I then look deep into the valley, now brilliantly glowing from the suns rays, and see that the stones I had turned over all those years ago were actually gleaming, dazzling, jewels.
