Ive kept the feathers

I never knew you;
In this life of cruel coincidence
But it's true too;
I see you in your life's imprints

The effects that you've had
Even from the grave
Rippling beautiful, yet sad
Like a cold ocean wave

I see this all from letters
Depicting you as sometimes young, sometimes regal
You left them all with feathers
When you soared, and took away their eagle.

So from this love-wrought shine they've made
I can now contently go my way
Knowing, as my mortal life will fade
I'll meet your soul some day
